Life Has Been Crazy

My cosmotology program started a couple of weeks ago.  School is 5 hrs every evening (5:45-10:45).  It's fun, I'm learning stuff, the hours are kind of kicking my butt.

G spent the week from the 17th to the 23rd up in Ventura with friends enjoying the very last week of his summer vacation.  Now he is back in a new school for 5th grade.  Luckily there are a few friends that also are going to the new school from his old school that closed last year, so he is not starting from scratch.  The jump in workload from 4th to 5th looks like it is going to be pretty big, but hopefully he will be up for the challenge.

Last weekend was my Dave Matthews Band concert.  I can't tell you how much I love their music.  We saw them at Cricket Ampitheatre which I think used to be Coors in SD (I can't keep up).  I have to be honest.  We left probably half way through the show.  We were surrounded by drunk kids.  We had lawn tickets and as they would try to walk around they would trip over you, step on you.  Hell one girl actually rolled over me and fell down the hill a bit.  We decided that was no fun and decided to leave.  Instead of staying at a hotel we had set up our tent at a really nice camp ground and had fun sleeping under the stars.

This weekend we are going to Norco to see a Grateful Dead Tribute band, which should be pretty interesting.

Peace

100_0415This weekend I was in Santa Barbara having coffee at the Paseo Neuvo mall when this gentleman walked by.  I grabbed my camera as quickly as I could.  Hopefully, you can see everything in this photo.

He is walking his dog who is carrying a cat, who is carrying a rat.

Now, if these three animals can get along so well, don't you think we more evolved beings could figure out how to stop killing each other and learn to love the differences in our cultures?

Is It Chilly In Here

My car is my mom's former car.  I got it a few years ago, and since the day I picked it up it had this horrible noise / vibration when you would turn the fan up high (whether AC or heat).

At one point I took it to H0nda to have it looked out and the service guy told me they would have to drop the engine out to take a look in there and see what was going on and the pricing would start out at $arm and move on to $arm and leg.  So basically I have just lived with it.

RH0nda the H0nda is unbearably hot during the summers (black car, leather interior = burn yourself on something) and chilly in the winters.

Tuesday RH0nda went to prison with R to get checked out by the boys and low and behold someone climbs under the car and cleans out a giant mess of leaves.  LEAVES!!!!!   GODDAMN F'N LEAVES PEOPLE!  I've been sweating my ass off for years because someone parked under the shedding tree from hell.

Other than getting all the landscaping out of the engine compartment nothing was done, and the fan works lovely now.  You can turn it up all the way and the dashboard doesn't vibrate like everything is going to fall apart.  All you hear is a lovely humming sound and it feels so nice and cool in the car.

Not Even Monsanto wants rBGH

Washington, DC – Monsanto’s announcement that it is “repositioning” Posilac, its artificial growth hormone used in milk production and more commonly known as rBGH, is good news for consumers but not the end of the struggle for food safety advocates, warned the national consumer rights organization Food & Water Watch today.

“News of Monsanto’s divestment of Posilac is one more sign that no-one wants the growth hormone rBGH used in milk production, not even the company that makes it,” said Food & Water Watch Executive Director Wenonah Hauter. “In the last year we’ve seen retailers including Walmart, Kroger, and Starbucks fall like dominoes in the race to meet consumer demand for artificial growth hormone-free milk. “
